PHP developer (CodeIgniter, Nails)

* * NO RECRUITERS PLEASE * *

Our little design and development startup in Shoreditch, London are on the lookout for a talented PHP developer to join the party. We’re a team of four but have space for two more. Sound interesting?

You’ll be working on some fairly in-depth and challenging API-driven projects as well as a handful of smaller, simpler sites – largely back-end with a sprinkling of front-end PHP development. You’ll also play a pivotal role in further developing our own homegrown PHP MVC CMS/Framework.

Your PHP skills should lie somewhere between decent and top notch. You’ll have built a few nice sites or apps yourself and worked on some credible projects elsewhere. We care more about your portfolio and previous accomplishments than your education, what languages you speak or whether you prefer cats or dogs (dogs win every time though, right?)

Despite working under a project manager, you should be self-propelled with a commercial head on your shoulders – you’ll need to understand and be able to challenge any decision our clients or designers make that you don’t agree with and be able to stand up for what’s right. If you’re a perfectionist, we’ll like you even more – as long as that doesn’t slow you down, you’ll fit right in.

With your actual human self, you’ll bring experience and expertise, and some fun to the table. You’ll support the rest of the team in their day to day needs, be happy chatting to clients and project managers, be able to guide the less experienced team members and be willing to learn from the rest. It’ll all depend on how you like to work really and we’re pretty flexible.

As part of a mouse-like startup agency (but a ferocious mouse), you’re our fifth team member and one of our core gang going forward. We expect and plan to grow your salary in-line with profits. Performance based bonuses will also be available after project sign-offs and high-fives, and after 12 months (depending on your degree of awesomeness) you may be offered shares in the company. This is a full time role offering a fair salary depending on experience, which will be reviewed regularly.

Day to day, we work 9ish-6ish with around an hour for lunch. We take 25 days holiday each, with bank and public holidays on top. Our studio is an authentic little workshop in a vibrant community just off Arnold Circus – you can help us mould it into shape. It goes without saying that you’ll get a shiny new 27” iMac, good coffee, more coffee, a beer/wine stocked fridge, the odd conference, days out with the team and our partners, and the occasional trip abroad when we’re working on internal products/services and need to grab some focus.
