Junior Copywriter

Life at Elvie – Meaningful work. Exceptional people

At Elvie, we don’t believe women’s bodies are the problem. Instead, we believe the problem is that the needs of women’s bodies – and therefore, lives – have been ignored, misunderstood, and underestimated.

Founded by Tania Bolder in 2013, Elvie has been improving women’s lives through better – and smarter – technology ever since. We develop innovations that meet the unique needs and complexities of the female body so that women can take charge of their health across every life stage.

Our first product, Elvie Trainer, is a multi-award-winning device bringing hospital-grade pelvic floor care to the hands of women everywhere— it was even a gift in the Oscar Nominee Goody Bags! And now, we’re proud to say that we’re part of the NHS Supply Chain in the UK.

Our second innovation was Elvie Pump. Launched in 2019, it’s the world’s first silent, wearable breast pump, enabling women to pump wherever they please— even the catwalk at London Fashion Week. It’s since won numerous awards, including the Times 100 Best Inventions of 2019 and ‘Wearable Design of the Year’ at the Dezeen Awards. The initial success of our wellness tools gave us the means to expand our breastfeeding range to include Elvie Curve and Elvie Catch, both designed to give mothers total comfort and confidence.

As a business, Elvie has received more than 30 awards (including the prestigious Red Dot Design award). We’re ranked as one of the 15 startups ‘To Watch’ by The Sunday Times and Business Insider and ranked as the 13th fastest growing business in the UK by Syndicate Room. Our founder and CEO, Tania Boler, is regularly profiled in top-tier media titles, and, in 2021, Tania was named GLAMOUR’s Women of the Year: Technology Gamechanger.

In July 2021, Elvie announced an $80 million Series C funding, the number one position and biggest raise in an initial fundraising round in the femtech category.

What does it mean to work at Elvie?

You will be surrounded by people who want to improve everything and everyone around them. People who are passionate about our mission. People who are driven to solve tough problems and constantly consider the best ways to improve the health and wellbeing of women.

We’re deeply proud of our values, which are intrinsic to the way we behave every day. We take them seriously because we want our culture to thrive:

  • We make an impact – we are mission driven and not afraid to break boundaries. We relentlessly focus on going the extra mile to solve problems
  • We are fearless innovators – we are passionate, curious and data-driven. We continuously embrace change and innovation
  • We are in it together – we fail and learn fast, always as one team, and have fun along the way. We stay authentic and embrace our differences

What you’ll be doing in this role

Okay, we’ve waffled long enough. So let’s get to the good bit: You.

As Junior Copywriter, this role sits within the Creative Team, reporting to the Senior Copywriter & Tone of Voice Lead. Perhaps you have some relevant experience in any guise or a foundation in copywriting, but now, you’re looking for a fun, new challenge.

Your responsibility will be to deliver exceptional copy for global and regional campaigns and the day-to-day activity across the business. Your writing will express the brand and meet the brief’s objectives across different channels and mediums— including social, digital, OOH, content, product, and PR.

We’re proud of our tone of voice, and you will help us protect our distinctive sound in external and internal communications, ensuring consistency of language, style, and spirit. Tackling the taboos and tough stuff around women’s health head-on, you won’t shy away from words like “vagina.”

And finally, you’ll bring oodles of can-do energy, a love of words, and a willingness to go the extra mile.

Your responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):

Creative: Our close-knit team is highly collaborative. And occasionally, there will be scope to develop disruptive, innovative concepts for Elvie campaigns— both global and regional. These roll out across all channels and various deliverables, including web & digital, social media, CRM, and experiential.

Editorial content: Fondness for feminism? Love a bit of long-form copy? There’s an opportunity to flex your editorial muscles, creating product and brand content to drive awareness, traffic, and conversion.

Social content: You’ll help bring our monthly social media calendar to life, really thinking about how we tell stories, break taboos, and engage with our growing community.

Regional/retailer projects: Who would we be without our retailers? From John Lewis to The Tot, we have numerous stores and partnerships across the globe. And sometimes, you’ll need to liaise with external parties and other functions across the business to provide copy support for their particular deliverables.

Digital: Help us elevate Elvie’’s digital presence across paid media, branded content, eCRM, and eCommerce. Be able to drive objectives, while upholding brand voice with best practice for digital (basically, punchy and succinct).

Products: Working with stakeholders and Senior Copywriter to name new products, write key USPs, and develop packaging copy.

Elvie brand custodianship: Be a guardian for the brand and tone of voice by adhering to the copy style guide— including grammatical preferences, nuances, and all that relates to Elvie’s style.

The world’s your oyster: Have an idea for a new conceptual campaign? Want to get more insight into UX/UI copy? Name it, and we’ll work to make your personal project happen.

How will you do it?

  • You love the craft, and you love words. If you genuinely enjoy discussing breast-based puns, you’ll be in good company
  • You’ll immerse yourself in the brand philosophy, verbal identity, and product line-up
  • You’ll be a brand guardian, really getting under the skin of our new brand guidelines and making them flow across everything you do
  • By leaving your ego at the door. We know every Tom, Dick, and Job Spec says this, but we’re highly collaborative, motivated folk. And we always aim to get the best ideas out of each other
  • You’ll be keen to learn and grow while molding your new role
  • You’ll be an ambassador for the Creative Team, consistently creating a positive impression of what we do and how we do it
  • By living the Elvie culture
  • Finally, by being based at our fantastic new Bristol office
