Hands-on Lead Developer (Back-end focussed)

We’re a new B2B SaaS Fintech startup developing a workflow and analytics application for Debt Capital Markets (DCM) divisions of investment banks. The two co-founders have each spent 10+ years in DCM and Syndicate front office roles at a leading investment bank and have left high-earning careers to pursue this business opportunity. We are looking for a tech expert to join us to complete our 3-person leadership team.

We’ve got the initial funding, great contacts within the industry and a detailed prototype and are in the process of securing commitments from our first clients. Our next step will be the software development phase and we are looking for a Lead Developer / VP of Engineering / Tech Lead who will have full responsibility for that aspect of the business. The role will suit a hands-on full stack developer with a focus on back-end/database development for enterprise applications. Business acumen is a must and the candidate should have the ability to recruit and manage a small team of front and back-end developers.

A particular focus will be on getting the company “enterprise ready” from a tech perspective to be onboarded as a SaaS provider for large investment banks, so previous enterprise SaaS experience is essential. Fintech/Banking/Financial Markets experience is a bonus.

**What we’re ideally looking for:**
* Extensive experience in leading the software development of a B2B SaaS business (ideally a B2B Fintech, but this is not essential)
* Full-stack technical expertise from front-end to back-end. We expect the candidate to be particularly hands-on in the backend development (database, business logic, cloud setup, API’s, implementing a proprietary algorithm, etc). The candidate will likely hire/manage a dedicated front-end developer and needs to be comfortable overseeing the application development end-to-end
* API and API Adapter experience (the product will rely on API feeds from banks’ proprietary trading desks, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, etc)
* Experience with the technical onboarding process of sophisticated enterprises (ideally banks), including the ability to anticipate our clients’ technical and cyber security requirements and ensuring our software meets those high standards
* Strong personal network and ability to help recruit and manage a small team of developers (locally in London or remote)
