Market Research Intern

We are looking for a bright, energetic and diligent individual to join us initially for a 3 month fixed term as a Market Research Intern.

Your mission will be to support our senior management and Sales team to understand our target market in greater depth. You will achieve this by identifying and understanding potential customers and market segments where our software could have value.

The principal activity you will undertake will be desktop research. You will use a variety of online tools to delve into the market. You should also be confident speaking on the phone – where you identify individuals who might be able to give you valuable information, arranging a phone conversation with them may be the best approach. However, please note that this is not a sales or lead generation role so you will not be expected to make outbound sales calls.

You will be working directly with one of the Managing Directors of Alvius who will give you guidance and training. You will also be expected to work with and learn from a range of other colleagues. However, management will be light-touch; you will be given an objective and left to work towards it. You will of course be supported wherever it is needed and we maintain a very friendly and open working culture. But you must be naturally proactive and confident in creating your own momentum.

Alvius is a rapidly growing and exciting software company, providing people management software platforms to a variety of major clients, largely in the UK public sector. Every day thousands of people interact with our software – often without knowing it. We are shaking up our market by introducing modern, clean, flexible software architecture and technology and very high standards for user experience design to a space which has seen limited innovation in recent years. We also have a portfolio of consumer-facing brands which we own and operate including TalentPool and UKStartupJobs. Between them, our portfolio brands serve more than 1,000 UK companies and have more than 200,000 users.

We are a relatively small company and run very much as a startup; you will find your colleagues supportive, open to new ideas and instinctively non-hierarchical. We are currently an entirely work from home company – although we intend to return to a London office (with flexible working) once the Covid crisis is over.
