As an embedded firmware engineer at Automata, you will be improving and expanding the motion and real-time systems on our robots.
You will write clean, testable code, tackle the complex problems which emerge at the junction of mechanical, electronic and digital systems and make meaningful contributions to the architecture of our robot arms.
What will you do?
Writing, maintaining and testing firmware used for:
- Real-time motion control of an industrial robot
- Drivers for various sensors and devices
- Safety and monitoring systems
- Automated manufacturing tests
What will you bring to the team?
Proven experience writing firmware for microcontrollers in C
An appreciation for modular, testable code
The ability to learn and apply new languages, tools and frameworks
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering (or related field) or equivalent industry experience
Excellent communication skills, flawless written English
An ability to work autonomously and independently
A self-starter attitude – you can work productively off of your own steam
Superb and demonstrable time-management skills
Experience in motion control or robotic systems
Experience developing safety critical systems
Experience with unit testing embedded C
Knowledge of Linux, build systems and continuous integration
Knowledge of higher level programming languages (eg C++, Java, C#, python, bash and other forms of scripting)
Experience with Agile methodologies and Test Driven Development
